Biruta McDonald, born in Talsi, Latvia, immigrated to the United States with her family to Manlius, NY. A four year student at Syracuse University’s’ Crouse College of Art and continued another two years at Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute, Utica, N.Y. Moving to Ipswich, MA she studied at Monserrat Art School, Beverly MA, where her style evolved into Abstract Expressionism, which is defined as the depiction of emotions rather than objects. She favors, as do most painters of this movement, large canvases, dramatic colors, and loose brushwork. Biruta has been a member, and award winner, in many juried shows put on by regional art organization throughout New York State and New England. Biruta currently has work with Boston Art Consultants, Boston, MA.
