Cheryl Ehlers is an award winning and published artist, who enjoys bringing art awareness to the forefront. She uses a bold and colorful style in versatile applications; watercolors, acrylics and mixed media. “As a youngster, my home was always where I parked my shoes.” Traveling Europe extensively, art was the one item that did not have to be left behind because it would not fit into a suitcase. Her mind always remained a palette, full of color and wonderful memories. She paints those memories and exhibits in local and national venues and remains very active as an avid art advocate representing the arts.
Ehlers is the founder of The Stardust Arts which serves underserved youth in the North San Diego County community. “I am able to provide children and youth with an education in visual art that will empower them for a lifetime.” Serving over 11,750 students to date, since 2009, the program has been recognized by the CA state Assembly and the San Diego Board of Supervisors for its contribution to the community. Ehlers is also the current arts program assistant for the City of Encinitas, CA, and mounts 56 exhibitions a year for local artists in three galleries.
She is proud to be an artist representative that has painted for the United Nations, (UNESCO), on behalf of art education and the environment. Driven by a family trait of advocating for community causes, success is just not based on the people you touch, but by the differences you can make in just one person’s life. Ehlers asserts, “If you believe in yourself, anything is possible.”
