Love is in the air for these two Mourning Doves.

About Mourning Doves:
Mourning Doves are abundant and widespread. They are well known throughout most of North America. Its mournful call is heard from deserts to forest edges and from farmlands to inner cities.

Description:
Medium-sized bird
Small head
Long, pointed tail
Light brown body
Tail with white outer edges

Size:
Length: 9 to 13 inches
Wingspan: 15 to 18 inches
Weight: 3.04 to 6.0 ounces

Sex Differences:
The sexes are similar
Males are slightly larger and slightly
more colorful, having a bluish crown and a pink chest

Sound:
A plaintive Ocoo-OOH, Ooo-Ooo-OooO
Their wings whistle in flight

Conservation Status:
Widespread and abundant
The Mourning Dove is hunted throughout its range.
They could possibly be declining in the west.
