The artist has always been fascinated by old healing springs. This particular scene is from Healing Springs in the Ashe County Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. The watercolor base is enhanced with Prismacolor colored pencils to create depth and detail that surpasses that of either media alone. The time of the year is captured in the leaves in the front with only evergreens in the background still showing their foliage.
