Acrylics on 1/4 in. thick slate. 12 by 12. framed in oak. Slate is 3D in spots and I allowed it to be part of this painting. The sand dunes and clouds are actually the natural form and color of the slate, for instance.
Your use of the wood is remarkable. In a way, I've done the same thing when I gesso a canvas. I apply it thickly in spots and it suggests ideas for the painting to emerge by being 3D in spots. Then sometimes the painting almost paints itself. Great painting.
