I sculpted this large ceramic bust while refering to a variety of photos of Frida and some of her self-portraits. I hand-painted the bust with acrylics utilizing earthtone hues similar to those seen on Mexican pottery. The sculpted hair is black but looks lighter due to reflected lighting in the photo. This is a hollow, hand-built ceramic sculpture that has been kiln fired. It is an original, one of its kind artwork that I have signed and dated. Size: 19 in. high, 19 in. wide, 14 in. depth. It is remarkably like her self portrait.Magdalana Carmen Frieda KAHLO LATER MARRIED DIEGO RIVERA AND DIVORCED AND RE-MARRIED HIM. TWO GIANTS OF THE ART WORLD BOTH LEFT WING COMMUBISTS, SHE SUFFERED TRAGIC PAINFUL INJURIES FROM MULTIPLE BROKEN BONES INCLUDING HER SPINE, BUT MANAGED TO DO GREAT MASTERWORKS. AMAZING WOMAN.
