I tend to think of all my pieces as having a story behind them. They're little glimpses into other worlds, and the characters always have some tale to tell.
The Story of 'Unexpected Atmosphere':
"Bill what is this?"
"I don't know, Jim... I thought we were gonners when our ship blew up. Seriously? What's the point of an ejecting seat when you're out in the middle of space?"
"Bill, look at this!"
"I mean, sure you wont BLOW UP, but then what? Then what? We float out here until our air runs out? Who the hell designed that thing?"
"Hey!"
"If I had more than 17.2 minutes of Oxygen left, you know, I'd write someone a nasty letter. I guess I don't have a pen, though. Or a mailbox."
"Bill!"
"Well, what the hell IS IT, Jim?"
"Look at THIS!"
"Whoa, well I'll be damned. What's this doing here? And do you think they have a mailbox?"
