In an indigenous but simple and effective manner, the African builder erects structures on water which in most cases dominates the environment. This sturdy buildings intelligently withstands the harsh weather conditions which may occur when the wind blows excessively or when flooding takes
 place as the case may be. palm fronds, wooden stakes and other ephemeral materials are usually
 utilized. As such, most dwellers are fishermen who depend on canoes for transportation and derive
 their liveihood from their immediate environment.
