Thank you, Kathryn. I think things are slow all over for artists. I live on the north coast of California and things aren't any better here. In an economy like this one, if you can't eat it, wear it, fuel your car with it or use it to keep you healthy, it isn't selling very well. The most common advise I've heard for artists is: Never charge less for your work, just paint smaller pictures. I charge by the square inch and started at $2 - $2.50 USD. It keeps me from being too subjective about a painting. Art is one of those things that people won't buy in a down economy even if the price is low, so lowering our prices just gives a message to the public that we don't value or have confidence in our art.
