Found mainly in open forest and bushland. The leaves and berries were crushed and filtered into billabongs to poison fish. The crushed leaves soaked and boiled in water relieved headaches when the head was bathed with it. The bark and roots were used as a liniment or gargled for a toothache. The young shoots were chewed to as a treatment for stomach aches. The leaves are silver-backed and the tree is small. The fruit and leaves are crushed to use as a fish poison. It is an upright tree with layered branching. The leaves are a bright glossy smooth green on top and white underneath. Flowers are highly perfumed and occur from late January to April. Fruit is globular, purple to black and occurs from May through to October.
