I always wanted to be an artist, have the art degree, and be a big success! I used to keep a little book of sketches when I was a kid to keep track of my progress. I came to the realization that raising three children and working full time to help support the family left little time for college and stardom! I sold my artwork on the side to make some extra cash by doing portraits. My artwork has always been a passion no matter what the circumstances. The great thing about art is that it doesnt talk. We are left to our devices in how we preceive it. There are many elements that help us like shape, line, tone, color etc but as each artist is unique so is the viewer! I had a blast when I was actually able to take classes at NMSU. I have worked in several mediums but I just cant shake that desire to work in Conte and Charcoal, as messy as it is. I really get a blast of inspiration when I connect a subject with an emotional feeling we can all relate to. Art has taught me a few things, for example, slow down, enjoy what your doing, perfection only works in math, you don't have to be famous, and a masters is not necessary to love creating art. I cannot claim to be highly educated in art nor completely self taught, but I always thought that labels look best on designer jeans anyway!
