Please! One will not find here some abstract theory on atmosphere or the effect of light on the scenery. Life is too short for that. Besides JMW Turner, John Ruskin and Walter Pater have written more than enough on that.
Specialties are landscapes and city/town views in a "post impressionist" style; although, there are also coastals, portraits and even some surreals in the repotriore. Sizes range from 2" square and up. Median is oil, venue canvas board, frame supplied with painting.
Art education was through father Louis Seidman, who emigrated with mother, Bessie, from Russia to Bronx, NY (birthplace). Old man ran a small art and decorator shop. (At the time of his passing old man was 98). Eventually whole family relocated to Brooklyn, NYC.
For many years displayed (and commissions were taken) at the Washington Square Park (NYC) outdoor art show. At one time had studios at 935 Broadway and 123 Fulton Street also in lower Manhattan (NYC). But alas they are no more.
Listed in Davenports and other artist directories.
We do not buy work(s) by George Seidman (1898-1973). Nor do we give appraisals or recommend appraisors. However, if one does have work by him that one wishes to donate to the collection, it will be accepted gratefully. The same goes for financial contributions (especially from those who have found this information useful). Our mailing address is Artpot, Post Office Box 1645, South Hackensack, New Jersey, 07606.
Eventually what we have, along with other works of art and craftware, will find a good home in a local public museum (yet to be determined) here in New Jersey or New York.
If one is a relative of George Seidman or has a verifiable story about him, that one wishes to relate, we would like to hear from you.
Thank You.
