I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, 1954. I began drawing before I remember talking. Even though I was just scribbling on cardboard boxes, to me, it was art. I was fortunate enough to be brought into a family that encouraged art. I began painting in oils at 10, and often visited the Cleveland art museum with my father. Both my parents died when I was a young teenager, and so I set about to travel the world and spent a year in England. I enjoy history and there's plenty of it in England. Back in the states, I attended various art schools but learned mostly by observing the work of other artists. I've worked as a warehouse laborer, merchant sailor, tattooist, banquet chef and muralist. I hope some day to be able to move to Maine and get a little cottage by the sea, where I can create art work from sun up to sun down.
