I’ve always loved to get and be dirty. Drove my dad nuts. When I began to discover my love of creating art, that affection for grime was the perfect fit for metalworking.
My education started in seventh grade. My mom drove me from our home in Logansport, Indiana to Indianapolis most Saturdays so that I could attend classes at the Herron School of Art and Design for high school students. That three hour round trip every week allowed me to explore a wide-variety of genres that my traditional high school art class never would have.
When I graduated, it was already a given that I would be attending Herron. I continued my studies and discovered and fell in love with metalwork. The rest is history, so to speak.
Since college, I’ve learned additional practical applications of metalworking that has enhanced my ability to make metal sculpture. I’ve learned to reproduce and enlarge original pieces for commercial use, design and produce furniture and other functional items as well as abstract sculptures.
I have a special place in my heart for working with steel, bronze, and stainless steel. Truth is, if it’s metal, I probably love it. I’m weird like that.
