My background as an architect and extensive travels further explain the inspirations of my original works. I recently exhibited a collection of works at the Affaire in the Gardens Art Show, in Beverly Hills, California.
The dance of light and shadow on the canals of Venice; the protection of the harsh summer sun inside a loggia of an Italian piazza; the change of mood that play on the faces of classical sculptures as light hits; the spectacle and grandeur inside the nave of a gothic cathedral; are all experiential qualities, which go beyond simple visual perception. This is poetry of space and architecture.
Conveying these emotions through painting is what inspires the artist.
The collection of original works aspires to keep alive these indelible moments as experienced by the artist and visitors of these places.
The artist’s own travel photography, notes, sketches and books aided in the collection’s fruition. The watercolor media allowed the artist to best capture the subtle-to-complex nuances of color and light.
Traveling, living and working as an architect in Europe, primarily London and Florence, further enhanced the artist’s sensitivity and understanding towards these evocative spaces.
