I loved art as a kid and my parents were extremely supportive, providing me with tools and educational support such as the Jon Gnagy (Sp?) courses. Unfortunately my junior high teacher was not supportive, my delicate spirit was crushed and I gave up on art.
Fastforward to 2000, when I spotted a watercolor class given by William Hewson of Seattle. My fiance knew him and offered to pay for the class. From the very first class I was thrilled with the medium and proud of my first work of art!!
I have had the opportunity to study with some great local teachers and a few national ones such as Lian Zhen and Stan MIller. My very favorite artists are Nicholas Simmons and David Daniels and I'd love to take classes with them someday.
I have participated in some of our local art leagues and have enjoyed learning so much and have been so enriched by the friendship and support of my fellow artisits.
I am a pianist but have put my free time on art since 2000. It is so rewarding...
I have won a few awards here and there locally. Being accepted at the Western WA State Fair Fine Art Show each year is a thrill.
My main focus recently has been my hand painted note cards. Each one is a unique miniature painting, and larger works (20" X 24").
Thank you for your interest in my artwork.
Blessings,
Karen Marie
