I am currently 20 years old and attending Montana State University as a sophmore pursuing degrees in Art Education, and Studio Art - Painting. I grew up in Kalispell, Montana and attended Flathead High School. I participated in a 2-year International Art Program. Through this I was able to explore my creative talent in painting and develop several techniques and approaches to my paintings.
Montana is the perfect place for me to be right now. I am surrounded by breath-taking landscapes and a rich history that captivates my interest. I am most often found hiking high in the mountains or valley meadows painting and camping or fly fishing Montana's best rivers. I focus on believability in my artwork while bringing out the variety of subtle colors in a subject. As I do this an element of impressionism forms in my paintings. I choose to plein air paint (to be on location) as often as I can because to capture the fleeting moment in time of light and atmosphere is what makes a painting alive. A painting is alive, and when in harmony it breathes with movement and dynamism. I incorporate an element of those fleeting moments and life into my paintings.
Oil painting is my medium of choice and I focus on landscapes and wildlife. As my painting evolves, I have found a passion for western and historical subjects. Artist that inspire my work are Joe Abbrescia, Charles M Russell, Mark Ogle, Brent Cotton and Todd Connor. Over the past year I have had the privilege to work with Mark Ogle and I am now currently working privately with Todd Connor.
