Artist: Kristy Leigh Edwards-Rusie
October 25, 1982
BIO: I've always painted, drawn and dabbled into all sorts of art media since I was a small child, but around 12 an art teacher in jr. high took a very keen wing around me and guided me along the path of styles, techniques and knowledge I needed to grow in the art world.
There have been several stagnant art phases in my life where I've gone months even years without painting a single thing but I always find spurts of creativity and crank out many pieces in short amounts of time. It's like a creative explosion that needs to be released the best way I know how to express.
I was born and raised in South Alabama in a very small town. 2001, graduating Class 71, I was 8th in that class, though the actual study part was forced upon by my parents, I'm greatful they didn't let my head get too far stuck in the clouds. I graduated with honors with a scolarship to the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada (at the time the farthest away from my little town as possible). It was complete culture shock however I never have regretted the decision to leave and spread my wings. I studied fine art for 2 years before returning home to the steamy south, 2003.
On September 21, 2005 my world came crashing down around me. An only child and naturally a daddy's girl, my father passed away unexpectedly in a car/4wheeler accident at 46. I didn't paint for 4 years...well.. i didn't finish anything... I didn't do much actually except make all the wrong decisions and follow the most dark paths.
My mother and I had never gotten along, and her boyfriend who was my age and moved in 2 months after my father passed away pretty much severed any natural bond a mother and daughter should have shared... it still is on the mend though i doubt will ever be the same.
I started painting again after I an ex and I were re-united, and we were Married September 18, 2010. Life hasn't been this good in a long time, despite the recession, and my job of 4 years closing down to a fire. Money is tight, but we are happy. Any artwork I sell to anyone is much appreciated. It most definately isn't profitable but it does pay a bill here and there.
My artwork usually consists of feelings, or portrays things that symbolize memories i want to keep alive. Sometimes I go through dark emotional periods, others happy and joyful. There's no real category or genre I can stay within when it comes to my art but I do love Kitties and the Ocean and have always been a reoccuring theme. Also fantasy is a big part of my personality, the whimsy of it all keeps those dreams we all have still in the realm of possibilities.
I hope you enjoy my art page, and though I doubt this type of bio is the norm, i want people to get a since of who i am and where I'm coming from. I may never be famous, but I can always strive to be Infamous! :)
