Gazmend Freitag was born in Pataqan i Poshtem on 25 May, 1968. He is the third of Aslan and Qamile Mustafa’s five sons. After finishing grammar school with focus on public administration, he enrolled in the law faculty in Prishtina.
Political changes in Kosova caused the sporadic closure of the university by the ex-Yugoslav dictatorship so that Gazmend Freitag left his home country. In 1990, after studying for two terms, he fled to Germany, where he devoted himself to art, his childhood passion.
In 2004, another turn in his life led him to Austria, where he now lives and creates beautiful artwork. He is an autodidactic artist and takes art lessons with well-known artists like the sculptor and painter Erich Ruprecht as well as with Mag. Art. Judit Goetzloff in Linz.
Besides his graphic works the artist also paints with oil paints on canvas. His favourite motifs are landscapes, portraits, nudes and still lifes.
Since 2013 ist the artist member from "Palette Kunstforum Oberösterreich".
