Chathuranga Biyagama, born in 1983 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. A self tutored Artists who showed up his skills in the time of schooling at St.Joseph’s College, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Chathuranga's Fine Art skills were recognized both nationally and internationally when he was a child. Not like other contemporary artists Chathuranga is a Banker by profession and LLB graduate who involves in the field of Contemporary Arts to full fill his passion.
Chathuranga has his own style foamed with Cubism specialized with the Palette knife technique in painting. The Artistic journey of “Chathuranga” was recognized in many ways in various International forums from his childhood.
Chathuranga achieved the Silver award for the second place of "Jathika Ran Thilina"(National Gold Excellency Awards) 1998 organized by the Sri Lanka National Child Art Foundation.
Chathuranga won the Second Place Silver Award from the Nippon International Child Art Competition, Japan in the year 2000 which was the first most International award in his Artistic carreer.
Awarded the Silver Award for the Second place of “Jathika Ran Thilina"(National Gold Excellency Awards) 2001 organized by the Sri Lanka National Child Art Foundation.
Become a member of the Sri Lanka Art Society in the age of Nineteen (19).
Chathuranga represented Sri Lanka in the 11th Asian Art Biennale at Bangladesh, Dhaka in 2003 in the age of 20. The youngest Sri Lankan artist who was selected among the Thirty (30) best Sri Lankan Fine Artists selected by the Department of Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka in 2003.
Chathuranga’s Fine Art work has been highly evaluated by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and awarded honorary recognition of the Art Council, Bangladesh.
Chathuranga was invited by The Beppu Art Museum, Japan to participate in The Beppu Asia Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2007 held in Oita, Japan.
Chathuranga and his painting titled "Unconventional Affair” selected among the best Sixty (60) artists in the World from the 2014 International Art Competition held at Taiwan. There were estimated3, 017pieces of artworks submitted for the 2014 International Art Competition created by artists from 70 different countries but only 60 artists were selected for this occasion held at Taipei, Taiwan.
