Lau Pik Yen, Alicia
b. 1995, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
My personal interest is in lines, I use lines in my artwork to explore different strokes. Throughout the crossing lines, it creates a lot of different connections. I combine different materials with lines to explore many possibilities. Cloth, threads and wire mesh are the main materials in my artwork. I used threads to enhance the content I intended to express which is Connection.
Some of my artworks are made without narrative. At first, I did not set any content in my artwork, only as my hands are working on the experimental materials and process, they inform me the content for my artwork. The lines and different materials suggest the connections between human and things. By exploring the cultural interconnection and duality, I also connect my artwork with space and surroundings.
