My paintings revolve around female as a form of ‘Adi Shakti’. This spiritual energy is at times conceived of as a universal life force running within and between all things.Amongst all the forces of maithuni samsara or the world born of copulation, according to the Puranas, the mother occupies the prime position of creative as well as sustaining force, hence divine. She as ‘Mother Goddess’ or the ‘Divine Mother’ is the life force prevailing all around. She is ‘Prakriti’, symbolic of fertility, progress, growth, prosperity, flow of life and essence of life. She, in another sense, also provides to her consort, the male God, the power to do what is expected of him- Shiva, Vishnu or Brahma- by becoming his Shakti or energy. On the earthly plane, ‘Shakti’ (Divine mother) most actively manifests through female embodiment and fertility, though it is also present in male as its potential, un-manifested form. |
